Welcome
to the Oklahoma
House and Senate Joint Health Care
Committee website. We hope this site provides
information for all Oklahomans to better
understand
what the Patient Protection and Affordable Care
Act passed by congress last year contains, along
with its cost and implications to all
Oklahomans. While we are against the federal
mandates on our health care, we understand that
until this law is overturned in the courts or by
federal legislation, we are still subject to
many of its provisions.
This
committee was established to explore the
mandates this bill legislates and the level of
flexibility we have as a state. Our goal is to
preserve our private health care system and to
protect the rights of
Oklahoma
citizens, while exploring all of our options
concerning federal law.
Our
hope is that all Oklahomans will learn what
options are available through our committee
meetings, the media and this website, and that
with one voice we can make the best decision for
every
Oklahoma
citizen.
Committee meetings are open to the
public. Check back
often for updated information of meeting times, dates, locations and agendas.
